Michigan 50 Companies to   Watch – Nominations Now Open

The Michigan  50 Companies to Watch will be recognized at the 11th annual Michigan Celebrates Small Business event on May 7, 2015. This year’s theme is Unleashing Innovation and Growth: Michigan Entrepreneurs and we’re looking for companies that are innovative in their fields or business   practices and are achieving growth and success. This event and awards program  draws nearly 1,000 attendees and generates tremendous media exposure for the awardees  each year. Hundreds of companies are nominated for the Michigan 50 Companies to Watch Awards and self-nominations are strongly  encouraged.

To be   considered for selection as one of the Michigan Companies to Watch, the   enterprise must meet the following for the year ending 2014:

  •   Be a privately held commercial enterprise (not a nonprofit, not publicly traded,   not a subsidiary or division of another company)
  •   Be past the startup stage and facing issues of growth, not survival
  •   Employ 6-99 full-time equivalent W2 employees (including the owner)
  •   Have between $750,000 and $50M in annual revenue or working capital from investors   or grants
  •   Be headquartered in Michigan
  •   Demonstrate the intent and capacity to grow based on:
    • Employee or sales growth
    • Exceptional entrepreneurial leadership
    • Sustainable competitive advantage
    • Other notable successes

Note:   Cannot have won this award in the past.


Small Business   Innovation Awards – Application Now Available

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2015 Small Business Innovation Awards, which recognizes a Michigan small business for an outstanding innovative product or service. To be eligible for an innovation award, the product or service must have been developed by the applicant and earned revenue for the first time   during the previous three years (from Nov. 2, 2011).  The winners will be honored at the 11th annual Michigan Celebrates Small Business event on May 7, 2015.
